Royal Botanical Garden
The Royal Botanical Garden, also known as Perdeniya Gardens is recognized as the best botanical garden in whole of Asia. It was founded in 1821 under the British rule, but was first built as a pleasure garden by the Sinhala King Kirthi Sri Rajasingha. With an amazing history, Royal botanical gardens is a must visit site during your stay in Sri Lanka as it has over 4000 species of plants, including orchids, exotic spices such as Cardamom, Cloves, Pepper & Vanilla , medicinal plants and palm trees. It has a renowned collection of Orchids in a separate orchid house. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 km2) and a walk down the park will take you on a mesmerizing journey in its long well-kept lawns and the Mediterranean Kandy weather.
